Neil Marcus is a physically disabled actor, artist, writer and activist with a long award-winning career in the Bay Area.
Neil: “Disability is not a brave struggle or ‘courage in the face of adversity.’ Disability is an art. It’s an ingenious way to live.”
Nominator: “Marcus has made beautiful dance and theater in the Bay Area for decades. He is a Bay Area treasure, … very important to the arts …and the disability community. He’s been an active member of the disability rights and art communities in the Bay Area since 1980, and his work, using a wide range of media, has been important for both communities.”
